Amid a growing backlash over the destruction of Aboriginal heritage sites, a proposal for the Ashburton River in Western Australia’s Pilbara region linked to billionaire and philanthropist Andrew Forrest is the latest to come under scrutiny.
Mr Forrest is being urged to back off from a proposed irrigation project on the river, which is regarded as a sacred site by the local Thalanyji native title holders.
